Cultures Of China-Water Cube Cup Chinese Songs Contest, the most important music and cultural event in the global Chinese community

Crossing thousands of rivers and mountains to gather in the cloud, passing through ten years of echoes with songs to express love.


"Together, let's set off again!" the online press conference for the launching of 11th "Cultures Of China-Water Cube Cup" Chinese Songs Contest was held in Beijing on June 10.


The Water Cube Cup singing competition, a national-level overseas Chinese affairs cultural brand, has been incorporated into the "Cultural China" system of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council since 2017.


The competition was successfully held for ten consecutive years. More than 30,000 contestants from more than 30 countries and 50 competition areas participated in the competition.


It has become the most important music and cultural event in the global Chinese community.


This competition is jointly organised by Beijing Radio and Television Station, Beijing National Aquatics Center Co., Ltd., Beijing Artists Management Corp.,Ltd and IQIYI.


The online and offline methods will be combined to broadcast live on the official platforms of the competition: iQiyi, iQiyi Instant, Water-Cube official website, ChinaQW and media from participating countries.


ChinaQW reported on June 18, according to the UK Chinese Journals, the 2021 "Cultures Of China-Water Cube Cup" Chinese Songs Contest officially launched in the UK, co-hosted by the London Chinatown Chinese Association, UK Beijing Association, Zhejiang UK Association.


The British division has achieved outstanding results and contributions in 2020, the first place in the adult group of the global finals and the best music adaptation award in the global finals.


The organising committee once again invited the celebrated soprano singer and International Cultural Ambassador Jane Maria as one of the 6 professional judges to participate in the selection of the entire competition.

Entry conditions

1) Those who hold legal right of abode in the UK;

Note: Global events are limited to overseas Chinese only;

2) There is no age limit for the Chinese in the UK to participate in the competition, other ethnic groups must be over 18 years old (born on or before August 31, 2003);

3) Participants currently engaged in the singing profession in professional organizations or performing arts agencies will not be accepted;

4) Those who have won any of the gold, silver, or bronze awards in the global finals in the past are not allowed to participate again;

5) Those who have participated in the global finals twice or more in the past are not allowed to participate again;

6) Contestants must participate in the form of individual solo, and the form of combination is not accepted;

7) Contestants must use Chinese to sing, the content is healthy, and the singing method and style are not limited;

8) The contest will select contestants from the aspects of singing level, Chinese level and artistic expression, and encourage the singing of individual original works.


Entry categories and awards

A. Youth group: 12 to 18 years old (born between September 1, 2003 and August 31, 2009)

B. Adult group: over 18 years old (born on or before August 31, 2003)

[Groups C, D, and E will only participate in events in the UK and not in global events]

C. Children group: under 12 years old (born after September 1, 2009)

D. Chinese students studying in the UK and Chinese personnel of Chinese-funded enterprises in the UK (Chinese who are not permanent residents of the UK): no age limit

E. Foreign friends group (other ethnic groups): over 18 years old (born on or before August 31, 2003)

  • All registered participants will receive an online raffle for five participating prizes on the day of the competition, each with a £50 voucher from a London restaurant.
  • All the works participating in the competition will have the opportunity to be promoted on iQiyi Instant, WeChat Video and other competition platforms.
  • All winners will receive certificates, trophies, bonuses (or prizes).
  • Participants who enter the global semi-finals and finals will receive professional development advice provided by famous musicians. The global organizing committee also plans to provide professional coaching for these participants with master classes.


Schedule

  • UK registration deadline: 5pm June 30, 2021 BST

The youth group and the adult group each selected the top 10 to enter the UK finals.

  • UK Finals: 2pm July 18, 2021 BST

The youth group and the adult group will each have a gold and silver award to represent the UK in the global semi-finals.

  • Global semifinals: August 10-15, 2021 (Beijing Global Organizing Committee online video connection, global live broadcast)

Ten contestants from the youth group and adult group were selected to advance to the global finals.

  • Global Finals: August 21-22, 2021 (Beijing Global Organizing Committee online video connection, global live broadcast)

The youth group and the adult group will select 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and 4 top ten awards respectively.

And individual awards: Best Internet Heat Award, Best Internet Interactive Award, Best Internet Attraction Award, Best Video Creative Award, Best Original Work Award, Best Music Adaptation Award, Best Photogenic Award, Best Performance Award , Most Potential Award
